Be sure to clean and inspect your carbon frame regularly. This Argon 18 (only two years old) had a small crack each side of the seat post. Further examination of the frame found a far more serious crack on the underside of one of the rear stays. Not known how this happened but happily a warranty claim has resulted in a replacement frame for this customer. The supplying dealer would not forward a replacement frame however without first seeing photographic evidence of the old frames destruction! Cutting a three grand carbon frame in half is not something you get asked to do every day😮
These retro racers were donated to the Durrington Community Cycle Project where I have recently been volunteering my services on Wednesdays between 10am and 2pm. Both bikes were in need of some serious TLC in order to prepare them for sale. I stripped both bikes down to a bare frame and replaced all bearings where necessary, new cables were fitted together with gum wall tyres to complete the period look. Both are now fit and road worthy and currently being offered for sale at £250.00 each at the Durrington Community Cycle Project at the Pavillion Pond Lane Recreation Ground Durrington, BN13 2RH. There is an opening day event at the DCCP at 11am this coming Saturday (22nd October 2016) Why not take a look?
